New Mexico’s favorite hot sauce brand originated in Albuquerque, according to Instacart

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – In honor of National Hot Sauce Day on Jan. 22, Instacart used its purchase data to determine the “most uniquely popular” hot sauce brand in each state. Given that New Mexico is known for being the Chile Capital of the World , it may not surprise some that the most popular hot sauce in the state is made with chiles.

Monroe’s Red Chile sauce was listed as the hot sauce brand that Instacart users in New Mexico buy more than the national average, according to Instacart’s data from 2023. Monroe’s started in New Mexico in 1962 and serves up New Mexican food at its two restaurants in Albuquerque, according to its website.
