Man accused of November 2022 Albuquerque murder to be held behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man accused of shooting and killing another man in broad daylight in November will remain behind bars. Andrew Ramirez was in front of Judge Courtney Weaks for a pretrial detention hearing Friday morning.

The state showed video of the incident saying a witness identified the man who shot Freddie Litton as Ramirez. They argued that Ramirez was just let out of prison on burglary charges before this happened and violated his probation leading to it being rescinded. They say it shows he has a history of violent criminal activity and a failure to follow court orders.

His lawyer argued that the video shows someone who looks like his client, that they weren’t sure how reliable the witness is, and conditions of release could be set to protect the public. Judge Weaks granted the state’s motion. Ramirez is facing a first-degree murder charge.
