ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department has released the name of a defense attorney connected to the investigation into APD’s DWI unit. APD Chief Harold Medina sent a letter to the Law Office of the Public Defender Friday. It names defense attorney Thomas Clear as the attorney suspected of illegal conduct alongside APD officers.

News 13 learned the suspected scheme centers on offers getting paid to get DWI cases dismissed. Clear’s home was one of the places where the FBI conducted raids last week. Clear was the Chair of the Public Defender Commission which advises the Law Office of the Public Defender but is not part of its administration. He stepped down from that role last Friday.
