Woman arrested in connection to 3-year-old’s death to appear in court

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the women accused of being involved in the death of a three-year-old girl is due back in court on Monday.

Police alleged Christina Pena-Cantor, along with her son, and the mother of the 3-year-old, stopped at a New Mexico gas station, where they claimed the child fell inside the restroom.

Hospital staff said the child was brought to the hospital but was already dead.

Police noticed signs of abuse, including injuries related to being tied up.

The State is asking for Pena-Cantor to be held in jail until her trial. The three other suspects involved are also facing charges.
