Rio Rancho Man Faces Multifaceted Charges in Wake of Tuesday’s Motorcycle Accident

On January 30, Anthony Guardino, a 48-year-old resident of Rio Rancho, was apprehended by authorities in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

Guardino now faces multiple charges, including great bodily harm by vehicle, failure to give information and render aid, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license revoked, and open container violation.

The incident unfolded near the corner of King Blvd. and Unser Blvd., where a motorcycle and SUV collided. Officers responding to the scene were alerted that the SUV, driven by Guardino, was attempting to flee south on Unser toward King. The vehicle then turned onto King and Wilpett, where an officer managed to pull it over.

Upon identifying Guardino as the driver, officers observed signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol, slurred speech, and bloodshot, watery eyes. Guardino reportedly became confrontational, refusing to exit the vehicle when commanded. Officers were forced to intervene, ultimately removing him from the vehicle. During the process, an open container was discovered in the SUV, leading to an additional charge.
