City of Albuquerque settles with family after crash at busy intersection left child severely injured

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Years after a car crash left a four-year-old with serious injuries and led to a lawsuit against the city of Albuquerque, the family and the city have reached a settlement. In it, the family claims it was all because of a dangerous traffic signal.

On November 8, 2019, a family of three got into a crash. The family sued the city, claiming it was due to a traffic signal that was inappropriate for an area with that much traffic. A couple was in the front seats with their four-year-old in the backseat. They were waiting at a traffic signal on Montano, ready to make a left turn onto northbound Renaissance. When the traffic light flashed a solid green light, the family made the turn. That’s when another car smashed into them.
