Albuquerque winery and bistro hit by thieves multiple times

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s a sight that’s becoming all too common: businesses around Albuquerque falling victim to break-ins and thieves. Matt Bovinette, the general manager at D.H. Lescombes Winery and Bistro in Albuquerque says it has been frustrating to see this kind of incident happen over and over again.

“We have had three break-ins in the month of January, netting in between $12,000-$15,000 in damages and repairs,” says Bovinette. “To have somebody come in and seem very comfortable being here doing the things and taking things that they were taking was very disheartening, and then, to have it happen a week later and then less than a week after that.”

The spike in crimes is putting management on edge for the safety of their staff. They have even begun walking their employees to their cars at the end of their shifts. “I mean, a lot of these things, the break-ins of the vehicles, are taking place in the middle of the dinner rush,” says Bovinette. “We’ve had break-ins of our employee cars, and actually, a guest car was stolen as well.”
