According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, with almost 45% of women over the age of 20 living with the disease. They say the leading cause of maternal mortality in new moms is heart disease.
With Wear Red Day being all about cardiovascular awareness, the American Heart Association says one important thing women can do is to ‘know your numbers.’ This includes numbers than can help determine risk for heart disease, including cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index.
February 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town is the 2024 New Mexico Go Red for Women Luncheon. The events is a chance to bring people together to raise funds and awareness. For luncheon tickets and more information on Go Red for Women, click here.
