Stolen vehicle found in Albuquerque during criminal search

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — A search for a fugitive led to the discovery of a stolen vehicle in Albuquerque, the US Marshals Service said in a release.

The Marshals Service was looking for Jayson Ortiz, 42, on Tuesday. He was wanted for bank robbery and firearms offenses out of Colorado.

While searching near the 4000 block of Montgomery Boulevard NE for Ortiz, the team noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen. A man and woman, identified as Gilbert Zuni, 37, and Michaela Pesko, 25, were in the vehicle, authorities said.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area and tried to stop Zuni and Pesko. They were taken into custody after a foot chase, officials stated. Zuni was arrested for auto theft, and Pesko was wanted for shoplifting. She’s facing a resisting and evading charge now too.
