Man accused of driving into National Hispanic Cultural Center pleads not guilty

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man accused of recklessly driving into the National Hispanic Cultural Center last year has pled not guilty to his charges. Back in July, police say Victor Barreto was arguing in his car with his girlfriend. Police say the two were using drugs the night before and they believe they were arguing about their relationship before driving into the building .

The state had asked to keep Barreto behind bars last month but a judge denied the motion saying a public safety assessment did not indicate Barreto was a danger to the community. He is facing a domestic violence charge as well as reckless driving and criminal damage to property.
