Police say Pena-Cantor, Austin Bing and Kerri Santos stopped at a gas station in New Mexico and claimed the child fell inside the restroom. When they brought the child to the hospital, medical professionals determined the toddler was dead when she arrived and noticed signs of abuse on the body.
Pena-Cantor, along with her son Austin Bing and Santos were staying with James Welch when police believe the abuse took place. The other three suspects have not yet been arraigned.
