The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is looking for volunteers for their kitten and puppy caregivers’ team. They are offering free training classes for these roles, starting in March. Those interested can sign up by sending an email with their contact details to the given email address, followed by an online application.

The AWD has various volunteer roles available. These include First Responders, Nursery Caregivers, and Foster Caregivers. First Responders are part of a nursery team that cares for neonatal and underweight orphaned kittens and puppies overnight. Nursery Caregivers are also part of this team, providing care at the shelter clinic until foster families are available. Foster Caregivers provide home care for some of the community’s most vulnerable animals.

Volunteers in the Caregivers program play a crucial role in helping shelter pets find new homes. The AWD provides pet food and supplies to support these volunteers.

By volunteering with the One Albuquerque team, individuals can help animals in need. Those interested in the Foster Caregivers program can apply and request more information via email.
