Depending on where you board a city bus, there are noticeable differences in Albuquerque. The city’s free bus fare program now applies to everyone permanently, making the busiest route along Central Avenue even busier lately.

In his 15-plus years of driving buses for the city, Gilbert Aragon stays on alert watching traffic and keeping an eye on his flow of passengers. As a woman was shouting at him from the back of the bus to put the ramp down, Aragon calmly replied, “Hold on, hold on, I got you.”
