Man who fought BCSO deputy before falling into irrigation ditch takes plea deal

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man caught on camera fighting with a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputy took a plea deal in the case and two more. Andrew Marler was in front of Judge Bruce Fox for a plea hearing Wednesday afternoon. He pled guilty to battery on a peace officer for a traffic stop in March.

Marler was resisting arrest as a deputy tried to handcuff him leading to both falling 15 feet into an irrigation ditch. A few days later, he stole from a man near First and Indian School, threw rocks at the victim, and chased him. These charges were dismissed as part of the deal.

He also pled guilty to stealing a car and fleeing charges for a crash involving a stolen car back in November. Marler is facing up to three years behind bars.
