Man pleads guilty in 2021 Albuquerque murder case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Michael Kelly, who was extradited to back to New Mexico after being arrested in Louisiana, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and tampering with evidence.

In November 2021, Police said they were called to the Copper Ridge Apartments on Tramway Boulevard NE on that day when they found Brandi Rael dead in a vehicle. Kelly fired multiple rounds into the car and disposed of the gun.

Police were searching for Kelly for nearly a year before he was arrested in Covington, Louisiana, at a business. Kelly is facing 21 years behind bars. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
