Woman connected to Duran’s shooting makes court appearance

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Amanda Sheppard is now charged with two counts of unlawful carrying of a weapon, negligent use of a firearm, and tampering with evidence in connection to a shooting at an Albuquerque restaurant in January. The gun went off inside Duran’s Central Pharmacy hitting Robert Sanchez in the back of the head.

According to the criminal complaint, Sheppard’s boyfriend, Jonathan Olivas, told police he and Sheppard were sitting at the bar when her purse dropped to the floor and her gun went off. Olivas picked up the gun and put it in his pocket before leaving and said he gave it back to his girlfriend.

Sheppard admitted to having a gun but said it belonged to a friend and she gave it back to her. Sheppard pled not guilty. Olivas has pled not guilty to tampering.
