RED RIVER, N.M. (KRQE) – The streets of Red River were full of people for their annual “Mardi Gras in the Mountains” event.
The six-day event has been going on for over 30 years and is one the biggest festivals in northern New Mexico.
Every year, officials pick a theme, and this year it is “Bubbles and Bowties.”

Officials said there are different contests for people to enjoy, and their biggest one is the drink-making one.
The event started on Thursday and will go until Tuesday.
