Several New Mexico Law Enforcement agencies were recognized on a national stage. Earlier this month, members from agencies like the New Mexico FBI, Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety, and Albuquerque Police Department were honored at the 71st Annual Attorney Generals Awards in Washington D.C.
“I’m just humbled to be able to be a part of it,” says Commander Gerard Bartlett, with Metropolitan Division in the Albuquerque Police Department.
The award highlighted the Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Initiative in New Mexico that was created by the FBI in 2022. Commander Gerard Bartlett was one of the people recognized on behalf of the Albuquerque Police Department. He says this work has led to stronger relationships between APD and the Taos and Zia Pueblos. It’s also allowed for partnered training including the drone program and tribal law enforcement.
