Albuquerque youth programs give crossing guards special Valentine’s Day surprise

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Several community center youth programs made Valentine’s Day special for their crossing guards. Students at Mary Ann Binford Elementary made special handmade cards and keychains for their school’s crossing guard.

The department says it’s part of their random acts of kindness week-long celebration. “Throughout the city, we have several other community centers also doing this for their crossing guards, so we just wanted to show a little more appreciation,” said Brianna Gallegos with the City of Albuquerque’s Youth and Family Services.

Gallegos said crossing guards deal with crazy drivers and keep kids safe so a car and keychain is the least they could do for the crossing guards.
