A cold front will bring colder temperatures heading into the weekend

A backdoor cold front moves into eastern New Mexico Friday. It will bring colder temperatures to start the weekend, along with a chance for snow flurries to some. Warmer weather continues to move into most of New Mexico Thursday, with high temperatures climbing into the 60s in Albuquerque. A few snow showers are moving through the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, but in New Mexico skies have been sunny and mostly sunny. By Friday morning, a cold front will be moving through northeast New Mexico, and make it through the entire eastern half of the state by late afternoon. This will start to bring cooler temperatures to the eastern half of the state Friday afternoon. Areas of light snow may even develop across northeast New Mexico early Saturday morning, with spotty areas of freezing drizzle and freezing fog along the east slopes of the central mountain chain. The moisture will wrap up by Saturday afternoon, but temperatures will be much cooler in eastern New Mexico, with a smaller drop in the western half of the state.
