KRQE Cares hosting Shoes for Kids phone bank on August 6

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE Cares is holding a fundraising event for its Shoes For Kids initiative with a phone bank on Tuesday, August 6 from 4 – 7 p.m. Shoes for Kids is the largest KRQE Cares initiative, which helps children in Title I schools receive a new pair of shoes.

Along with a new pair of shoes, children are provided with a snack, book, dental supplies and socks. KRQE’s community relations director Carolyn Rush says the program has even reached kids outside of Albuquerque, including Moriarty, Bernalillo, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas and several reservations. The program’s work would not be possible without the generous donations of viewers and sponsors. To help support Shoes for Kids you can donate online at any time or call during the phone bank at 1-877-715-7400 between 4 – 7 p.m.

Donate to Shoes for Kids

Through the Shoes for Kids program, over 29,000 pairs of shoes have been put on children who need them since 2015. The program is in partnership with the Assistance League of ABQ, a non-profit organization that serves the Albuquerque area. All donations are directly given to the Assistance League of ABQ for the purchase of shoes and socks that go to the kids.
