Gun buyback in Albuquerque set for August 24

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Depratment is working with gun violence advocates and Albuquerque’s local sports team to offer money for firearms. A gun buyback event will be held on August 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at APD’s University Substation near Isotopes and the Pit.

Albuquerque store says thieves stole $20K worth of equipment and tools

Participants can receive $250 for an assault weapon, $200 for a semi-automatic handgun or semi-auto rifle, or $100 for long guns, revolvers, and pistols. APD said the group, New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence has removed more than 2,400 guns from the streets in its 24 buyback events. Nearly 40% were semi-autos or assault rifles.
