Suspect dies after SWAT callout near Downtown Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police Department (APD) reported they tried to arrest someone near Broadway and Lead when the suspect died.

APD said the suspect was armed and barricaded themself in a home in the area.

Airman stationed at New Mexico base dies

Police said there are reports the suspect fired at least once during a foot pursuit before entering the home. SWAT officers were called to negotiate with the suspect.

At 7:06 p.m., APD stated the suspect was shot after they tried to negotiate. The incident is considered an officer-involved shooting, and the suspect died due to their wounds.
