New Mexico State Police Arrest Rundown August 15th

Espanola and Taos, NM- On August 6, 2024, The New Mexico State Police along with the Taos County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) located and apprehended Justin Trujillo on a warrant for 1st degree murder.

The warrant stemmed from charges in June of 2024 where Trujillo was charged in the death of Russell Wilson by the Taos County Sheriff’s Office. Please reach out to their agency for details in this case.

Additionally, on August 7, 2024, New Mexico State Police along with the Picuris Tribal Police Department, also arrested Byron Sanchez, a wanted fugitive who had a Federal Warrant for Homicide. Both Trujillo and Sanchez were booked into the Taos County Adult Detention Center.

A Chaparral man was charged by criminal complaint for illegally stockpiling firearms and explosives in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Frederick Urban, 76, appeared before a federal judge on August 12, 2024, and will remain in custody pending a detention hearing, which has not been scheduled.

According to the criminal complaint, on August 8, 2024, the ATF received a tip from a concerned citizen who provided evidence indicating that Urban, a previously convicted felon, was in possession of firearms. Following an investigation, which included reviewing photographs and videos provided by the concerned citizen, ATF agents confirmed the presence of numerous firearms at Urban‘s residence.
