Edgewood shines spotlight on pirates, Vikings over the weekend

EDGEWOOD, N.M. (KRQE) – This weekend, Edgewood is dedicated to pirates and Vikings.

The Wildlife West Nature Park invited the community to celebrate the 5th Annual Pirate Viking Summer Festival with comedy performances, music, fire shows, belly dancing, and more.

Guests were encouraged to dress up and come ready to drink all the mead they could handle.

Just as Vikings and pirates took to the waters, one guest got to share her love for sailing.

“As Captain Jack Sparrow says, ‘Sailing is freedom,’ and that’s exactly what it is. You get on to this, and everything just falls away,” said Commodore Elizabeth Barnett with Hobie Fleet 48

The festival continues for its final day on Sunday.
