Former New Mexico postal worker sentenced for crime involving out-of-state minor

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A former New Mexico postal worker has been sentenced for enticing a 13-year-old girl from Washington.

In 2021, Lucas Murphy drove from Los Lunas to Kennewick, Washington, after communicating with a 13-year-old in the area over Snapchat.

Federal officials said Murphy gave the teenager alcohol, marijuana and sexually abused her while driving her back to New Mexico. The girl was found in Murphy’s home several days later.

Earlier this month, Murphy was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
