Strange balloon in Albuquerque sky

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A strange object spotted in the Albuquerque sky this morning, turned out to be a high-altitude balloon, launched by World View. Part of the company’s Stratolite balloon system, it’s filled with helium and a super-pressure ballast balloon to lift a payload into the stratosphere. Launched on Aug. 31st from Arizona, it’s part of a mission by Space Environment Technologies, NASA and part of the Automated Radiation Measurements for Aerospace Safety project. A company spokesperson says they are flying a sensor package in the stratosphere to gather data on solar radiation.
