Rio Rancho celebrates ‘Oktoberfest’ with all sorts of alcohol, food

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A special harvest event has made its way to Rio Rancho all the way from Germany.

The City of Rio Rancho hosted their take on the Munich “Oktoberfest” for a two-day event on Friday and Saturday.

Event-goers could explore local vendors and taste different German delicacies and the finest beers and wines.

“We have so much food. We’ve got schnitzel, bratwurst, pretzels, strudel, and German beer and wine, and you can hear the wonderful music and entertainment, and can I tell you? Everyone here attending is so delightful,” said Christina Dubois.

Organizers said this is the first time the event has been held at the Sandoval County complex but said the event was just as successful as in years past.

The 189th German Oktoberfest will take place from September 21 through October 6 in Munich.
