Albuquerque salon and Children’s Cancer Fund treat cancer patients to makeovers

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and one local beauty bar helped give back some confidence to young cancer treatment recipients.

Blo Blow Dry Bar invited 16 kids who have been diagnosed with cancer to get VIP treatment by doing their hair and makeup.

The event was in collaboration with the Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico, helping children and families facing the disease with both emotional and financial support.

One organizer said the event gave the children just a glimpse of their true beauty.

“My daughter is a survivor of cancer, and one of the things she struggled with was confidence, and I know things like getting your hair and makeup done can make a big difference in morale and confidence,” said Abby Max, a board member with the fund.

The Blo Blow Dry Bar is also planning on helping the Children’s Cancer Fund with a modeling class for the kids, offering to do their hair and makeup for an end-of-class photo shoot.
