Man who killed panhandler in Albuquerque will spend 5 years in prison

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who ran off to California after shooting and killing a panhandler two years ago will spend five years behind bars. Brandon Chatmon shot Vincent Lopez five times outside of the Wingstop near San Mateo and Zuni in October of 2022.

Rio Rancho teen accused of murder will be held behind bars

An employee told police that Chatmon was arguing with Lopez and then shot him. Chatmon was arrested in Long Beach, California a few months later.

Chatmon pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence in June.
