24th Walk n’ Wheel shines light on fighting ALS, collects funds to help those affected

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Lou Gehrig’s disease is a life-changing diagnosis, and on Sunday, patients and families came together for support and to also raise money for research.

ALS New Mexico held its 24th annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at UNM’s Track and Soccer Complex near University and Avenida Caesar Chavez.

The event was started in 2000 by a group of caregivers in the state wanting to create a community for those affected by the disease. Even though it’s still considered a rare disease, it impacts the ALS community heavily.
