Going on it’s 7th election, the pet mayor of Corrales has been determined by the people or the paws.

As part of a campaign to help out Corrales Animal Services, the pet mayor elections have raised thousands of dollars in the past with last year just under $4000.

Any pet in the village can run. Chickens, goats, dogs, and even a guinea pig ran this year.

“That’s why we live here. That’s why we like Corrales and made the decision to be here because it’s a welcoming place for everybody. Once again, goats, horses, people, chickens, you name it.”

The torch was passed on from Wendell a Nigerian goat, to a first for the village, Chico Suave the first mini horse elected as pet mayor.
