ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jason Hurd, a man with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2015 in Albuquerque, is behind bars this weekend. He’s accused of stealing merchandise from a big-name chain store from December of 2023 to May of 2024.

Court documents alleged Hurd was documented stealing 14 different times from the Target on Paseo Del Norte and the location at Uptown. Employees informed police about the suspected illegal activity after recognizing the man and capturing some of the thefts on security cameras.
Target staff later nicknamed Hurd “The Dyson Guy” after they said security footage showed him stealing at least five Dyson-branded vacuums on three separate occasions. Law enforcement also believed the vacuums were Hurd’s main target in those instances.
Court documents stated Hurd stole more than $7,000 worth of merchandise over those.
Along with security footage, police believe Hurd is connected to the shoplifting sprees because of his car. He was contacted by police in a four-door, white sedan, and they believe it was the getaway vehicle.
