Bernalillo County gets millions in funding for department improvements

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County is getting millions in funding for much needed upgrades benefiting the sheriff’s and fire departments. On Tuesday they announced the money would buy new technology and redesign the county’s emergency services headquarters.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said right now, they’re working with outdated technology and equipment at the center which is the county’s hub for first responder training and planning emergency responses. They said this money would help them catch up.

“We have to have the right tools, so we’re pretty far behind in some of the systems that we have so we’ve been upgrading that, so that we can look ahead and look into crime prevention,” said Major Holly Anderson, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
