The driver, identified by APD as 19-year-old Eliazar Torres, told police he believed he was going around 50 miles an hour at the time of the crash. However, APD said the vehicle’s computer system showed Torres was going 75 miles an hour less than two seconds before the impact. They also claimed Torres was pulled over by state police less than a week before for going over 120 miles an hour in a 75 zone.
