ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department said one person is dead and three other people were injured in a police shooting Monday night. APD Chief Harold Medina said that dispatch received calls just before 6 p.m. about a man carrying a gun and pointing it at people at a gas station at San Mateo and Cutler. They said they were also told he had a four-year-old child with him and had pointed the gun at the child multiple times.

Around 6:20 p.m., APD said officers gave the man orders and then shots were fired. The suspect was killed. Two other people were shot and had non-life-threatening injuries and were found at Carlisle and Lomas. They were taken to the hospital. A third person was shot as well at the gas station and was taken to the hospital. APD said that they are investigating how those three people were shot.
APD said they recovered the suspect’s gun and that it had an empty magazine. The child was not injured.
