Richard Pitino says his dad’s suggestion that he would serve as his successor at St. John’s was ‘insane’

Last February, Rick Pitino suggested he wanted his son Richard to succeed him one day as the head coach at St. John’s. “I personally want him to stay at New Mexico. I want him to stay at New Mexico until I leave St. John’s and he can take my place then,” the elder Pitino, 72, told reporters after a game.
