Ross is accused of killing John and Debra Embry in 2018. During his first trial in October 2022 the state claimed he was staying with the couple and had the perfect opportunity to commit the crime. Ross’ lawyer claimed the couple were swingers and it opened them up to a large number of potential suspects. The jury couldn’t reach a verdict, leading to a mistrial. Ross’ second trial was scheduled to begin Monday, but the court says he is now expected to take a plea deal.
