New art exhibition at City Hall reimagines Albuquerque’s empty signs

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new art exhibition has been unveiled at Albuquerque City Hall’s Gallery One. “ New Iconic Signs ,” the exhibition, “reimagines Albuquerque’s empty signs through designs that reflect community care, culture, and history,” according to the City of Albuquerque.

Featuring the work of 15 local artists, the exhibition aims to give new life to empty signs in the metro. The project was put on through efforts from Friends of Orphan Signs, Risolana, and the city’s Public Art Program.

Albuquerque man looks to inspire kids facing homelessness

The exhibition opened with an artist reception on Thursday, Dec. 19, and will be available to view through February 14, 2025. Located on the first floor of City Hall at 1 Civic Plaza, the exhibition is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The contributing artists include Aiko Jio, Alayne Ballantine, Blythe Mariano, Carlos Contreras, Celine Gordon, Dusty Deen, Gael Luna, Gus Tafoya, Isabel Tafoya, Joseph Stacey, Kori Wood, Maya Key-Towne, Roberta Begaye, Shawn Smith Newcomm, and Zahra Marwan.
