[1] State releases annual report on organized crime in New Mexico – The organized crime commission is asking the state for $4.5 million to add ten full time employees, buy new equipment and create a centralized intelligence center under the New Mexico Department of Safety. Since it’s revival the commission says its greatest success has been fighting human trafficking. This year, during a two-week operation they rescued 200 migrants and shut down ten illegal massage parlors.
[2] New national law targets hazing on college campuses – In the new year colleges and universities will be required to include hazing incidents reported to law enforcement in their annual security report. President Biden signed the bill into law Tuesday. Schools must also implement hazing awareness training for students.
