Southern New Mexico Roads Hazardous as Blowing Snow and Icy Conditions Worsen Through Friday

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Snow and frigid wind chills are set to impact southern and eastern New Mexico tonight into Friday morning. Gusty northeast winds will worsen road conditions, creating slick surfaces and areas of blowing snow.

The National Weather Service warns that temperatures will plunge to single digits in some areas, with wind chills dropping below zero. Snowfall accumulation, while light, will create hazardous travel on major routes, including I-25 and U.S. 70. Northeast winds up to 25 mph are expected, significantly reducing visibility for drivers, especially overnight.
