High-speed chase: Man charged with smuggling migrants from El Paso to Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — An undocumented man is facing federal charges for human smuggling after he was arrested following a high-speed chase through I-25 in Dona Ana County.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, on the morning of March 2, Roberto Rodrigo Velazquez-Lopez allegedly led authorities on a chase driving north through I-25, after he blew past a Border Patrol checkpoint with four undocumented migrants hiding in the trunk of his car.

Court documents state Velazquez-Lopez allegedly ignored orders to stop and reached speeds of 110 miles per hour…
