Upcoming Valencia County hospital named

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A planned hospital in Valencia County officially has a name after being approved by county commissioners. Last week, Valencia County commissioners were given an update on the planned hospital in Los Lunas, which will be located just west of the village’s Walmart near I-25.

Commissioners unanimously approved the name Valencia County Hospital: A Lovelace Operation on March 19. Also in the meeting, officials say foundations for the entire building will be complete in the next two weeks.

Local and state leaders broke ground on the new facility back in November off the main I-25 Los Lunas exit. Officials say the construction will take a year and a half to build out the facility, which will eventually be run by a partnership between Community Hospital Corporation and Lovelace Health Systems. The hospital will have its own emergency department and two operating rooms, along with 11 in-patient rooms for overnight stays. Patients will have access to MRIs, X-rays, and a pharmacy, something patients today have to go to Albuquerque for.

Those with the project say they still expect the hospital to be completed by the end of June 2026…
