After the fifth path closure in the past year due to high wind speeds, it has been decided that rather than continuing the hassle of sectioning off the entire path and adjacent tree-covered walkways with caution tape, all dendron, arbor, and fauna will be removed from campus.
Ms. Puente acknowledged that the caution tape does nothing to actually keep students from walking and hanging out underneath the trees, greatly increasing the chances of lawsuits. She was quoted saying, “They’re like freaking lemmings, it’s like they want a cottonwood branch to fall on their heads”. She also noted that this initiative will not only support the Academy’s water-saving efforts but will restore Albuquerque Academy’s campus to New Mexico’s native selection of dirts, dusts, and gravels.
