ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The BioPark is taking the month of April to celebrate the great apes they have in the zoo. As part of Great Ape-ril, the BioPark is setting up discovery stations so guests can learn all about the apes, including their babies Bulan the orangutan and gorillas Gila and Mashika.

Zoo staff are also on hand to help guests learn how they can help great apes with several species on the endangered list. “By doing our conservation events like this, we’re showing them how all the individual things they can do, whether it’s fundraising or recycling, how important that can be to protecting animals in the wild,” said assistant curator of primates at the ABQ BioPark Josephine Frentzel.
