El Paso brothers and wife, arrested in connection to human smuggling, money laundering

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A family affair: An El Paso man, his brother, his wife and eight others were arrested in Albuquerque in connection with human smuggling and money laundering.

Jose Luis Avalos, 42, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to transport and harbor illegal aliens and to launder money, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Court records show that between July 7, 2022, and March 21, 2023, Avalos, along with his wife, Kristina Hardin, and other co-conspirators, coordinated the illegal transportation and harboring of undocumented immigrants throughout New Mexico…
