Santa Rosa, N.M. – Torrential overnight rain could trigger flash flooding across central, northeastern, and southeastern New Mexico through 6 a.m. Monday, with burn scar zones near Ruidoso and Las Vegas among the most at risk.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a Flood Watch remains in effect for 16 counties, including Union, Curry, Guadalupe, and Chaves. Up to 4 inches of rain may fall in isolated areas, with widespread totals between 1 to 2 inches likely. Multiple waves of precipitation are expected to impact areas from the Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the Central Highlands and Eastern Plains.
Localized flooding is possible in low-lying roads, arroyos, and poor drainage zones. High water could make rural crossings and underpasses impassable overnight.
