WATCH: Man throws small dog at police officer during arrest

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ( KRQE ) — A man threw a small dog at an officer who was trying to arrest him Monday, and it was caught on video.

Albuquerque police say Bobby Chavez, 41, was taken into custody on multiple charges after running away and then “briefly holding a woman hostage in an apartment.”

An officer had told Chavez he was being detained for trespassing after he was seen standing near a “No Trespassing” sign outside DK Gas Station. As Chavez looked through his wallet for his ID, he threw the small dog he was holding at the officer, then ran away.

The officer chased Chavez, who jumped a fence. Another officer saw him run into an apartment through an unlocked screen door. Authorities said a resident texted her neighbor that he would not let her leave. She got out through the back door not long afterward. She also told officers she wasn’t allowed to leave and said Chavez did not have permission to be in her home…
