What is the UV index?
The UV Index represents the amount of skin-damaging UV radiation reaching the Earth’s surface at any instant of time.
The UV Index Scale is broken into five categories:
- Low (1-2)
- Moderate (3-5)
- High (6-7)
- Very High (8-10)
- Extreme (11+)
While some people may welcome the sunshine, too much exposure to the sun and its ultraviolet radiation can be dangerous, as people may suffer from sunburns and long-term problems, such as skin cancer and cataracts…
