New Mexico Weather Alert: Red Flag and High Wind Warnings in Albuquerque Until 9 PM Wednesday

Albuquerque, NM – Dangerous fire weather conditions and high winds are forecast to impact much of central and western New Mexico on Wednesday, prompting urgent warnings from weather officials.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. MDT for areas along and west of the Central Mountain Chain, including the Central Highlands and Northwest Plateau. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph, with relative humidity plunging as low as 5 to 10 percent—creating ideal conditions for rapid fire spread.
